Naa Tashvi’s post: “Israel in practice obeys international law in its operations in Gaza. The latest ruling of the International Court of Justice (ICJ) does not contradict the way Israel operates in Rafah at all. Israel has worked continuously to prevent casualties in Gaza, but the reality is that Israel is fighting in the most challenging urban warfare environments in military history, Hamas continues to hide and operate among civilian infrastructure. It is Hamas that continuously violates international law.
So Israel will have to continue the operation, in order to free the approximately 130 hostages still being held in Gaza and to defeat the Hamas jihadists who promise to carry out another massacre on October 7.
Israel, like any other country in the world, has not only the right, but the duty to protect its citizens. Any attempt to immediately take it away from Israel is giving victory to the ideology of jihad.
The ICJ is the latest player to have fun with these lies about Israel. There is an ongoing campaign to try to paint Israel as this genocidal, white, colonialist state to try to delegate Israel’s right to exist. Hamas could end this war tomorrow, yet it continues to hold Israeli hostages in Gaza for more than 230 days.
And the ICJ continues these fake hearings and forces Israel to defend itself not only on the battlefield against a murderous group that really wants to destroy it, but also on the international stage. These baseless accusations are a distraction in a propaganda war waged against Israel in the campaign of the ICJ. To imply that Israel violates international law and acts unjustly without being able to provide evidence of violations is a show. This is a farce. These lies only prolong the suffering of Israelis and Palestinians.
