The French newspaper Le Parisien describes an alarming trend: an unimaginable jump in the number of anti-Semitic incidents in the country since October 7.

According to the data of the umbrella organization of the Jewish organizations in France (Crif), which relies on the data of the French Ministry of the Interior – this is no less than a 1,000% jump in the number of incidents in the country three months since the massacre in the Gaza Envelope, meaning that the number of incidents in three months is equivalent to those that occurred in France during the three years the last ones

According to a comprehensive study by the AJC (American Jewish Committee) organization in France – 61% of French Jews have fallen victim to an anti-Semitic act, in real life, under the pretext that they are “responsible or guilty for the policies of the Israeli government”.

44% hide their Jewish identity in public,

80% of French Jews do not believe that the police or the French justice system will handle the issue properly.

Since October 7 – a quarter of French Jews have fallen victim to an anti-Semitic incident, 73% of them suffered from threats and hate speech on social networks. 37% of Jews have transferred at least one of their children to a private school because they fear for their safety, and 20% have removed the mezuzos from their homes.

Another very disturbing statistic: 66% of the Muslim population living in France is anti-Semitic and 14% of all French people under the age of 35 express identification with Hamas.

Over 50% of all young Muslims think that the Jews control the media and politics, and 34% think that the Jews use being victims of the Nazis as an excuse.

Not only Muslims in France:

While half of the French understand that the Jews are the main victims of racism, only 27% of the citizens under the age of 25 think so and a significant number of them believe that Israel is a colonial state.

37% of young people hold anti-Semitic attitudes, and some even justify violence against Jews. The survey shows that the population over the age of 75 is still aware of the existence of the Holocaust, but the young are increasingly forgetting its existence.

The bright spot:

76% of the French acknowledge the problem, and acknowledge that anti-Semitism exists in France. That’s a 12% increase in ads from last year. 67% of the French think that anti-Semitism is a problem for the whole of French society and not only for the Jews.

The massacre on October 7 strengthened the Jewish identity of 73% of French Jews. According to Dabi, the goal was to check “how exposed the young people in France are to anti-Semitic views”.
