Suspected of a shocking anti-Semitic incident in France: the Paris police arrested a man on suspicion of kidnapping a Jewish woman in the suburbs of the French capital, raping her and threatening her life. In his investigation he admitted that “the acts were carried out as a sign of revenge for Palestine”.

According to reports in France, the Jewish woman called her mother on Sunday and informed her that she was being held captive in the apartment of a man she met a week ago. According to police sources, the same man also sent messages to the Jewish woman’s family. Among other things, he sent a message to the mother that read: “Good luck, you will never find your daughter, you will never see her again, I will listen to her.” He also sent a similar message to the woman’s ex-boyfriend, explaining to him that he wanted to “avenge Palestine.”

The mother contacted the police in panic, and the officers located the apartment where her daughter was kept. A special intervention force of the Nanter police broke into the apartment and rescued the woman safe and sound.

The suspect, a 32-year-old man, was arrested for questioning. He is suspected of kidnapping and rape. According to police sources, the man was arrested on suspicion of holding the woman against her will and threatening her with murder, using drugs and religiously motivated threats. The suspect was brought before a judge for remand.

The security measures around the synagogues and Jewish institutions in France have been increased in preparation for Passover, and the Paris police are planning special protection for the Israeli delegation at the Olympic Games this summer. A march against racism and Islamophobia and the protection of all children was held between Bastille Square and the Republic in Paris, at the initiative of dozens of parties and organizations, after the court overturned a previous ban by the police in the name of freedom of expression for fear of the anti-Semitic nature of the parade.

The parade was held after an anti-Israel rally of the far-left “The Unyielding” party was banned at the University of Lille. The far-left leader Jean-Luc Melenchon and the leader of the list for the upcoming elections to the European Parliament, Rima Hasan, who denies, among other things, the existence of the State of Israel, were going to appear in it.
