The performance of Israel’s air defense against the hundreds of missiles sent from Iran received media coverage in Europe and a higher than usual interest in their technologies. In Germany they were satisfied since they are the only country that purchased Arrow 3 and the interceptions were proof that the investment was wise and now they also want the Iron Dome and not just them.
In Europe as a whole, the intercept data of the Israeli air defense systems – in cooperation with the air forces of the United States, Great Britain and Jordan – were looked upon with admiration in the face of the massive attack by Iran.
“How do Israel’s air defense systems – “Iron Dome” and “Arrow 3″ – work, and when will Germany receive one of them?” declared the headline in the German newspaper “Tagsspiegel” on Monday morning. Unlike Finland, for example, Germany did not acquire the Iron Dome system.
Germany purchased the Arrow 3 system for protection against long-range missiles, as part of changing its security concept against the background of the war in Ukraine, and the German television networks showed what appeared to be an interception of the system at the border of the atmosphere, which created an explosion in blue tones.
The current enthusiasm in Germany stems, among other things, from the fact that when they finally signed the deal for the purchase of the Arrow 3 system, including the “Oran Adir” radar which is supposed to detect launches at a range of thousands of kilometers, the “Arrow” system was still only a success in trials.
In other European countries as well, the performance of the air defense received media coverage. The fact that 99% of the air threats were neutralized, and that no significant injuries were recorded, won headlines in Italy, France and the United Kingdom.
The major defense companies, which are part of Israel’s air defense system, encountered international interest in their technologies on an extraordinary scale. The historical scope of interceptions of the powerful attack has done its work and thanks to the enemy from Iran it is possible to present this capability.
