The Sting Unit is an elite commando unit that specializes in using dogs for specific tasks in the field of fighting terrorism, searching for explosives and other capabilities which are classified.
Okets operates dogs alongside commando fighters for special missions in routine and emergency situations. The unit operates alongside other special units and also in independent activity within enemy territory.
During the training, the fighters go through internships in the BA and from there to the commando series and unit internships.
In the next step, the soldiers will go through the advanced combat phase, which includes the training of a commando fighter alongside a dog.

The Sting unit was fully activated on the morning of the massacre on October 7, with more than 100 dogs and hundreds of fighters, when the Sting commander, Lt. Col. E., decided to also activate three intervention companies without dogs, which included the young training soldiers and the old reservists for the benefit of the battles in Bari , Kfar Gaza, Zikim and Karmia. In these battles, a stung company commander, Major Aryeh Shlomo Ziring (27), was killed, dozens of fighters were injured and another dog of the unit was killed. The fighters of the unit and the dogs also operate in Judea and Samaria, where they found about 25 different weapons. Sting dogs also have the ability to operate in the underground medium, and these days the unit operates in full scope in all combat sectors.

Profile 82 and above, successfully passed the day of exposure and formation of a sting.
What does the route include?
A one-year recruitment in December only, traineeships in the paratroopers for about 3 months, after which a promotion to the commando series unit and unit traineeships.
Beyond stage A which includes Shavuot for the Loter, parachute shooting with a long weapon and a pistol.
Shroud and camouflage weeks, underground warfare, built-up area, open area and navigations.
And after about 8 months, the fighters will receive their dogs for continued service and begin the dedicated training phase for about 8 more months until the end of the course (16-18 months in total).
